New JH graduates retain their JHED ID for six months after commencement. This grants access to most licensed library databases during that period.

Off-campus access to library resources is restricted by our database licenses to current students, faculty, and staff of JHU. To help address post-graduation access, the Alumni Association and the libraries have partnered to create Hopkins KnowledgeNet, which is the Alumni Online Library. A list of databases is here.

  • This online library is free to all JHU alumni. You can access academic journals, e-books, and more. If you have questions, please contact the Alumni Office at alumni@jhu.edu, or call 410-516-0363 or 1-800-JHU-JHU1 (1-800-548-5481).

  • Alumni may request materials held at the JH Libraries, including our off-site shelving facility. Ask for the form at the Service Desk in the MSE Library Annex, or call (410) 516-8370.

  • If you are in/near Washington D.C., please note that the Frary Library (in the Hopkins Bloomberg Center) is not able to offer on-site access to databases. However, alumni may set up free borrowing privileges for Hopkins print collections. Contact librarydc@jh.edu for more information.

Please note:  "KnowledgeNet is provided exclusively to serve the intellectual enrichment and lifelong learning goals of the alumni of the Johns Hopkins University. Any other use of KnowledgeNet content or services, such as for commercial purposes, or as a substitute for a corporate information service, is strictly prohibited. By using KnowledgeNet materials and services, you agree to restrict your use of these materials and services, including all licensed and third-party materials, to personal lifelong learning purposes."

  1. It seems that there is no available link to any databases at KnowledgeNET page.
    --------------------
That's correct, April, there isn't. This is because you must be registered as a Hopkins alum, and log into their system first. This note is on the KnowledgeNET page: "Please note: Hopkins KnowledgeNET is only accessible through the alumni.jhu.edu account system. You will be required to log in as a first-time user on alumni.jhu.edu to access Hopkins KnowledgeNET." For more information about how to do this, please call them at 410-516-0363. Thanks for your question, and best wishes.

  2. I'm registered and logged in to the alumni website and still see no KnowledgeNET log in link or field.
Please call 410-516-0363 or 1-800-JHU-JHU1 for help with their system.

  3. What constitutes an official photo ID?
If you're in Baltimore, you may use materials and databases on-site in the library. Please bring an official photo ID to enter the library.

A driver's license, passport, or state i.d. card would qualify. If you are a full-time student, your current student i.d. is also OK.
