During Phase 1 of of the re-opening effort many library services are still available, but with a slightly different process than usual due to staffing limitations and the availability of materials for interlibrary borrowing from other institutions.

Journal Articles and Book Chapters

Articles that are available online in full text can be accessed using the instructions found in this FAQ.

For articles and book chapters that are not available online in full text, there are three categories of items.

Journal or Book is Housed at Milton S. Eisenhower Library (MSEL)

Faculty and graduate students may place a request via the Interlibrary Services System (ILL) by selecting "Submit Express Request."

Journal or Book is Housed at Libraries Services Center (LSC)

All faculty and students may place a request via the Interlibrary Services System (ILL) by selecting "Submit LSC Request."

Journal Article or Book Chapter must be requested from another library (Interlibrary Loan)

All faculty and students may place a request via the Interlibrary Services System (ILL) by selecting "Submit ILL Request."

Print Books

Owned by JHU Libraries and Available

If the book is owned by JHU Libraries and is available at any location, find it in Catalyst and select Request for Pickup. Please wait until you receive an email notice from “Circmail” that indicates your books are ready for pick up; the email will include a link at the bottom of the message to schedule a pick-up date and time.

Not Available in Catalyst

If the book does not have a Request for Pickup button, the item record will show online copies if they are available. If the item is not available in Print or Online, you may place a request for specific chapters following the instructions above.
